Institute for Architectural Research (IAR) - Architectural Futures: Fall Mentorship Program

Dates: Ongoing throughout the Fall semester (August - November) open to all aspiring architects, particularly those with limited resources or support.

Each fall, the Institute for Architectural Research (IAR) supports aspiring architecture students through its Architectural Futures mentorship program, helping them prepare applications for undergraduate and graduate studies in architecture. Through individualized workshops and guidance from experienced volunteers, students receive personalized support with school selection, college essays and statements of purpose, portfolio development, and educational planning.

Offered at no cost, Architectural Futures provides students with access to a range of resources, including Virtual Portfolio Reviews, Educational Planning, NCARB Mentorship, live expert Q&As, and webinars exploring contemporary architectural practice and digital tools. These opportunities help students strengthen their applications, explore educational pathways, and gain a broader understanding of the architectural profession.

IAR’s approach equips students with the knowledge, resources, and confidence to navigate the application process and make informed decisions about their architectural education. Above all, Architectural Futures seeks to broaden access to architecture by connecting aspiring students with experienced mentors, meaningful opportunities, and a supportive community as they pursue their educational and professional goals.
